NFGSPC Meeting
North Florida German Shorthair Annual Meeting
February 2020
The North FL GSP Club meeting was called to order at 1:05 PM. Those in attendance were Becky Jacobs, Sue Harrison, Dorothy Thompson, Ward Myer, and Susie Morris.
Treasurer's report was presented by Dorothy Thompson, the club balance as of January 2020, is $10,379.67. Dorothy reported all the club events, Field Trials Hunt Test and GSP Specialty are all running at a profit to the club.
Becky Jacobs made a motion to approve the Treasurer's report, Ward Myer second the motion, motion passed.
Minutes from our June 2019 meeting were voted on an accepted.
We welcome new members Sheila and Bob Budden to the club. Ward Myer made a motion we accept their membership, Becky Jacobs seconded the Motion, Motion carried.
Sue Harrison has formally reigned as Chair for the GSP Specialty held each December at the Royal Cain show. We need someone to step up to Chair our Specialty. If we are not able to put a Committee together for the December Speciality, we will lose our date and it will be next to impossible to get back in again.
All preparations are starting now for the December 2020 show, if you are interested in Chairing this event, please let one of the Club Officer's know as soon as possible. Sue Harrison has Chaired the Specialty for many years and we sincerely thank her for all she has done for the Club.
We currently have one last Spring Field Trial in Perry, FL, the next Field Trial will start in the Fall of 2020. There will be one last Hunt Test in November, in Lake Wales for 2020.
We are limited on our options for Fields to hold Hunt Test and Field Trials. We often have conflicts with the Fields in Lake Wales, for Hunt Test, with NAVADA which has priority with the Fields for their events. Ward Myer brought up the possibility of moving our Hunt Test event dates. We discussed moving the dates for the HT, however we declined to move the dates because once you forfeit your dates, it is difficult to get those dates again. There are many Clubs and few fields available. The grounds in Umatilla have been sold, however they are leased back to the owner. These fields from a travel distance are great, however the availability is in question for future use.
We do have an annual membership to the Perry Plantation, however these grounds are not suitable for a Hunt Test.
Sue Harrison and Becky Jacobs will scope out some potential other fields to use and report back to the Club. We need at least 5 Acres for a bird field, ideally 50 acres would be sufficient to hold our Hunt Test.
If anyone is aware of available Fields please let Becky Jacobs or Sue Harrison know. Our Club is insured and we do provide a Certificate of Insurance to the Land Owner's where we hold our events.
Our annual Club meeting will be in June at the Olive Garden Restaurant on West Colonial Drive. All members are welcome, this is the meeting we vote on Officers for the year.
Ward Myer made the Motion to adjourn the meeting, Becky Jacobs second the Motion, and the meeting was adjourned at 1:30 PM.

The applications for the following events have been approved by AKC :
Two-day Hunt Test to be held October 13 & 14, 2018 in Lake Wales, FL. There will also be a one-day Hunt Test to be held March 2, 2019 in Umatilla, FL. Entries will be limited for this event and will run on field A only. Entries for the Spring 2018 Hunt Test were phenomenal. We learned a lot from this event, to offer it again in the Spring of 2019. Many thanks to all the Club Members who pitched in and made this event successful.
Becky Jacobs made a motion the Club have a Raffle at the October Hunt Test, Susie Morris-Ball seconded the motion, motion carried.
The upcoming Field Trials for Fall of 2018 and Spring of 2019 planned and pending AKC approval are as follows:
- Walking Field Trial at SSJ Farms, Hiliard, FL. November 2,3 & 4, 2018, (Fri., Sat., & Sun.)
- Horse Back Field Trials at Perry Plantation, FL December 14, 15 & 16, 2018 (Fri., Sat., & Sun.) These dates were previously used by Central Florida GSPC Club, however they did not have a Field Trial in 2018, so these dates are tentatively scheduled.
- The second Horse Back Field Trial will be February 8, 9 & 10, 2019 (Fri., Sat., & Sun.) at Perry Plantation, FL.
- The third Horse Back Field Trail will be March 22, 23, & 24, 2019 (Fri., Sat., & Sun.) at Perry Plantation, Fl.
Jan Erbe suggested the Club hold dual sanction Horse Field Trials with AKC & American Field. This requires the NFGSP Club to join the NGSPA for an annual membership of $50. Becky Jacobs made the motion we join the NFSPA and Dorothy Thompson seconded the motion, motion passed.
Due to low entries in February 2018, the Club will not be holding the South East Sectional Classic in February 2019.
All Field and Hunt Tests for 2018 thus far have been profitable.
Jan’s one more thing: we have 27,000 Purina Points from weight circles and we need 8,000 more points to obtain a pop-up canopy to be used at Florida field trials. This is about 20 weight circles from 37 1/2# bags of Purina dog food. If anyone can contribute, please send the weight circles to Jan in Omaha by July 15, then we can order the pop-up, and have it sent to Florida for the club's use.
